    last May I decided enough is enough weight gain. Needed to lose at least 50 lb. I am happy to say that I’m down to the last 4lb. This last 10 has been the hardest! I started working out last Oct. I’m training for a 5k this year. It is a goal that I set for myself. I will be 59yr old when I have my first race. I have never done anything in any kind of sport so I’m a little nervous and not even sure what is the best way to train. I’m up to 3 miles with 2 of it running at 5.0. I also use Pace machines for upper body strength training. I also started step aerobics this week. Anything you can suggest that I do different?

    I started getting into shape Jan ’04 for my wedding that October. I hired a personal trainer, who happened to be a runner. She talked me into starting running. Long story short, I ended up signing up for the Chicago Marathon which was a week after my wedding (I had to postpone the honeymoon for the race!). Running and training for the marathon took away all of my stress from planning the wedding and made it seem much easier. I went from not running at all to running a marathon in 10 months and now I am still running marathons and other races. I have many thanks for that personal trainer that convinced me to start running.

    I use to run ten miles a day.. then was in an accident and things just got worse from there.. Getting fit again is important. I miss being able to run. Dancing is a great way to start getting back in shape as are isometrics and breathing exercises.. if you cant breathe and you are not limber you cant run long.
    I started my training again with the dancing and isometrics. Hoping to work up from there to weights and running again. Also started taking a probiotic and prebiotic daily .. illness starts in the gut.. if your gut is healthy you can overcome anything :0)
