Need More Energy? Pre-Workout is the Answer

Hey guys! Trainer Lindsey, here!

Today I want to talk to you about a common struggle amongst fellow gym-goers and weight-droppers. This struggle is energy in the gym, or lack thereof.

How are you supposed to smash a gym session if you don’t even have the energy to put your gym clothes on, let alone get on a treadmill and run or repeatedly lift a 10-pound weight?

The answer is simple: pre-workout!

Many misconceptions are associated with pre-workout and I’m here to bust these myths once and for all!

Myth #1: It’s unsafe and will overload me, causing me to go crazy and then crash.

Myth #2: Only guys take it.

Myth #3: You’ll get so pumped with caffeine that you can’t sleep at night.

Kind of like this:

Myth-buster #1: Don’t be overly ambitious and take more than the recommended dosage. Also, pre-workouts that have natural caffeine give sustained energy so it’s not extreme levels either way.

Myth-buster #2: Research says that women are consistently more exhausted than men. Pre-workout is for men and women, and women could benefit from it even more!

Myth-buster #3: When you take pre-workout, it’s meant for BEFORE you workout. When you start to exercise, your blood starts to pump and you can burn it all out of your system by the end of your routine. You only won’t be able to sleep at night if you take pre-workout for your bedtime snack and have no intention of exercising.

When you find the right pre-workout for you, it might feel a little like NOS for your body. You’ll be zipping around the gym never knowing you had this much strength and endurance in you. It’s like putting your body into turbo mode. Who wouldn’t want that? It will help if you’re looking to improve strength, lose weight, tone up, or whatever your goal is.

Say goodbye to the days where you get your gym clothes on, drive over and then walk on the treadmill at 2.0 mph for an hour.

Not even chocolate cake in front of the treadmill is motivation to me, and I love chocolate cake, so how can something give that much motivation?

I’m going to explain to you what a pre-workout is, how it will help you reach your goals and the best brand on the market!

A Quick Rundown of Pre-Workout

Many benefits accompany pre-workout such as:

  • Clean energy & focus
  • Fat Loss Blend
  • Endurance & intra workout pump

With all of these benefits, it’s important to note that not all pre-workouts were created equally. It’s also important to be choosy about the type of pre-workout that you take. It should be made with natural ingredients so that you don’t overload and regret it later aka barf in the gym bathroom (that’s a real thing). Most of these ingredients are commonly used in pre-workout. However, the ones listed are four specifically found in IdealLean Pre-Workout for Women:

  • Natural caffeine
  • L-Theanine
  • L-Norvaline
  • Beta Alanine

Caffeine is helpful for an energy boost. This energy boost is great because it’s a more natural, balanced and sustainable energy, rather than the crash and burn kind that most people associate it with.

L-Theanine is helpful for improving your mood and increasing your attention span. L-Theanine is often used in conjunction with caffeine to “take the edge off” of it with its slightly relaxing effect.

L-Norvaline keeps your muscles going longer and encourages muscle growth. It is also an essential amino acid that helps increase nitric oxide levels in the blood.

Beta Alanine is critical for muscle strength. It is an amino acid that combines with the amino acid histidine in muscle cells to form carnosine, which buffers acid in muscles which in turn increases physical performance by allowing you to get in more reps. It also has shown to aid in lean muscle gains.

Now that we’ve explained way in-depth about this science-y stuff, let’s move on to how it actually helps you.

How You Will Benefit-The Active Lifestyle

In order to see results, you must challenge yourself. The problem is that sometimes fatigue and exhaustion set in, hindering your progress.

This can be a real bummer and the truth is that you can’t reach your goals if you’re too exhausted to get to the gym or do your at-home workouts.

This is where pre-workout can help! It will keep you working your hardest so that you can reach your goals faster.

Lack of energy is a huge factor in whether or not a person loses weight. It’s a vicious cycle that goes a little like this:

active-lifecycle

It’s so easy to get stuck in this negative, unending circle (on the left). The best thing to do is figure out what you need to do to end it.

You come home exhausted from work or dealing with kids all day and you would much rather curl up on the couch for some quiet nap time than go workout. Pre-workout can help get your butt into gear.

When you get out of your own way, results will manifest.

Your energy level will increase, which will automatically put you into the “active lifestyle cycle.”

Pre-workout will also increase your fat-burning rate while in the gym. Caffeine stimulates thermogenesis, which is one way that your body generates heat and energy by digesting food. When your body is going through thermogenesis, you are burning more calories than normal.

Thermogenesis = calorie burning = caloric deficit = weight loss.

The Best Brand of Pre-Workout

Life keeps me busy so my pre-workout is a must-have! It helps me stay motivated once I get into the gym, and even if I’m feeling tired, I can push myself to the limits and be confident that my gym time was well-spent.

This is why my favorite go-to brand of pre-workout is IdealLean Pre-workout for Women. It not only has an energy & endurance-boosting blend, it also has a fat loss blend (my favorite part) that speeds up results and helps me stay on track with my goals!

IdealLean’s exclusive fat loss blend consists of:

  • Phosphatidylserine increases exercise endurance and improves your mental health as well as boosts mood.
  • Green Tea gives you greater oxygen uptake without an increase in cardiac output.
  • Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA) increases fat oxidation during sleep. It also helps with menopausal symptoms.
  • Evodiamine reduces fat uptake.

IdealLean Pre-workout also comes in several different delicious flavors including watermelon ice, cherry limeade, and blue raspberry.

Is it safe to drink the pre workout if you do not drink caffine due to heart palpatations/racing?

    1. Dawn

Idk if this will help answer your question, but for me, I had palpitations all the time. I work for a cardiologist, so it was easy to diagnose. All-in-all I was told I had to switch from regular coffee to decaf, which I did about 6 months ago. I have them RARELY now. I started the Pre-workout about 2 weeks ago and I haven’t had one palpitation from it. Everyone is different of course, but I haven’t experienced any problems.

I am a 67 year old female. I work out 3-4 days a week. I am very active and have no medical issues, nor do I take any medicines. I have been told by a few gym goers that I should not take pre-work because it made them jittery. I am already a hyper person but I have reached a plateau on weight loss so I am trying to figure out what I should do without causing bad effects. I have been reading about your boost supplement. Is there enough boost to help workout and metabolism without going into pre-workout?

is there anyway to get a sample packet before I buy the container. If it doesn’t work for or I don’t like the taste than I don’t want to spend the money etc. on the bigger container.

Yes! Just don’t exceed 400mg of caffeine each day. Pre-workout has 150mg and boost only has 80mg so if you take each once daily, you won’t have a problem ?

Great stuff! Thank you. I have struggled with having a tingling sensation when taking pre-workouts that contain beta alanine. Is this normal?
